The PYLC course introduces students to the foundations of Pitjantjatjara Yankunytjatjara language and culture, focusing on pronunciation, core grammar, and practical strategies for respectful engagement and relationship-building within Anangu community contexts. Students will develop essential language skills while gaining insight into the cultural and historical significance of these languages.

Designed as a starting point for ongoing learning, the program equips students with the confidence and tools to continue their language journey in real-world community settings.

The course explores key topics including sound systems and pronunciation, verb structures and usage, everyday dialogue, expressions of location and direction, serial verbs, descriptive language (adjectives and adverbs), and emotional expression. Learning is further enriched through a dedicated Culture Day, as well as playback and presentation activities that support reflection and applied understanding.
